Karas Region

Keetmanshoop Community Market (! Homs Ai)

Activities undertaken
Land located in Kronlein-Tseiblaagte for this project was acquired from the Keetmanshoop Town Council (KTC). The concept designs and technical documentation commenced, and discussed with KTC while the three dimensional designs and project name were submitted to the Ministry for approval.

Karasburg Community Market

Activities undertaken
Kalkfontein Hotel has been earmarked by the NDC, Project Technical Team and Karasburg Town Council respectively to be acquired for this project due to its strategic locality, capacity to serve as a tool for integrating various communities and its potential to serve this purpose.

Project construction to commence during April-May 2012.

A strategically located site approximately 15ha site in the none flood area of Mariental has been earmarked by the NDC, Project Technical Team and Mariental Town Council respectively to be acquired for this project due to its strategic locality, size and potential to contribute to integration of the various communities of Mariental towards one.

Khomas Region

Windhoek Garment Factory (Tuhafeni)

Activities Undertaken
The strategically located land for this project was acquired from the City of Windhoek at a cost of N$ 4 245 400 million. This site is located in the Northern Industrial Zone close to Namibia Broadcasting Corporation TV complex. The concept designs and technical documentation commenced, completed and three dimensional designs and name approved by the Ministry.
Tenders were call.

Work is in progress is on schedule.

The practical completion date for the factory is 10 March 2012.

A corporate identity logo and slogan has been developed and is ready to be presented by NDC to the Ministry for input and approval.

Recruitment of an operator for this factory is underway.

Erongo Region

Walvis Bay Industrial Estate (! Nara Namib)

This Estate has been earmarked to be serving as Logistical, assembling and manufacturing node with downstream businesses such as welding, packaging, etc.

Activities undertaken
The Walvis Bay Town Council has allocated eighteen hectare of land to the Ministry for this initiative. The preparation of technical documentation for the infrastructure services such as water, sewer, electricity, roads and storm water handling commenced and is in progress.

Construction tender for phase 1 of the project shall be called 30 September 2011 and construction work on site is scheduled to commence mid January 2012.

Omaruru Trade & Industrial Estate

Activities undertaken
A strategically located site measuring approximately 16ha has been earmarked by the NDC, Project Technical Team and Omaruru Town Council respectively to be acquired for this project due to its strategic locality towards entrance to town from Karibib, size and potential to contribute to integration of the various communities of Omaruru towards one.

Construction tenders shall be called during March 2012 whilst construction of the Phase one (Events Centre – Trade Fair Facility) shall commence April-May 2012.

Activities undertaken
The site to the entrance of town, where crafts entrepreneurs are currently operating, has been earmarked by the NDC, Project Technical Team and Okahandja Town Council respectively to be retained for this project due to its strategic locality, historic marketing, choice of the beneficiaries and potential to serve this purpose.

Construction tenders shall be called during April 2012 whilst construction of the market shall commence May-June 2012.

Okahandja Business Estate (Omumbonde)

Background information
A strategically located site on the high way en route from Windhoek to Swakopmund measuring approximately five hectare was secured from Ministry of Works.

Activities undertaken
The land for this project was acquired. The concept designs and technical documentation commenced, completed and three dimensional designs approved by the Ministry.

Construction tenders for Phase 2 shall be called during November 2011 whilst construction of the industrial workshops shall commence mid January 2012.

Kavango Region

Kavango Trade and Industrial Estate

An application was lodged to Rundu Town Council for the avalanche of a six hectare site to MTI and for its Title Deed to be registered with NDC. Rundu Municipality granted NDC permission to access the site for construction purposes and RTC did not yet resolved on the application submitted to them to avail the by them identified site to MTI/NDC. Feed back is being awaited.

Activities undertaken
The concept design in 3-D Graphic format has been discussed and approved by the Rundu Town Council, Kavango Regional Council and other local stakeholders. The concept design in the form of a three dimensional design has been submitted to the Ministry for endorsement.

Katima Mulilo Trade and Industrial Estate

Activities undertaken
The concept design in 3-D Graphic format has been discussed and approved by the Katima Town Council, Caprivi Regional Council and other local stakeholders. The concept design in the form of a three dimensional design has been submitted to the Ministry for endorsement.

The technical documentation pertaining a phased development commenced with phase 1 documentation completed.

Construction Tenders for phase one is currently running and work on phase one should commence by mid November 2011

Tsumeb Community Market (Sida! Hanab)

Activities undertaken
The strategically located land for this project was acquired from the Tsumeb Town Council (TTC). The concept designs and technical documentation commenced, and discussed with TTC while the three dimensional designs were submitted to the Ministry for approval.

The contractor is on site for the construction of the market. Work is in progress.

The practical completion date for the market is 15 February 2012.

Tsumeb Trade & Industrial Estate

Activities undertaken
Strategically located site measuring approximately 20ha has been earmarked by the NDC, Project Technical Team, Regional Councillor and Tsumeb Town Council respectively to be acquired for this project due to its strategic locality in terms of visibility, accessibility, location regarding urban hub establishment in relation to the Tsumeb-Katwitwi high way, size and potential to contribute to integration of the various communities of Tsumeb towards one.

Upon completion of the 3-D Graphic Design, such design shall be presented to the Tsumeb Town Council and to MTI for input and approval upon which NDC shall proceed with compiling technical documentation.

Due to the site not yet been acquired, design development has not commenced.

MTI Oshikoto Regional Office and SME Park Expansion at Omuthiya

Activities undertaken
The land for the site is part of the current SME Park which is strategically located along the main road passing through Omuthiya. The concept designs and technical documentation commenced, completed and three dimensional designs approved by the Ministry.

Tenders were called.

The contractor is on site for the construction of the facility. Work is in progress.

The practical completion date for the facility is end February 2012.

The contractor is on site for the construction of the market. Work is in progress.
