The Directorate consists of three Divisions, namely, Business Registration and Intellectual Property Policy; Weights, Measures, Standards and Accreditation and, the Consumer Protection and Regulatory Affairs Division.
Through regular calibration of weights and measuring instruments, officially appointed Trade Trade Inspectors and Legal Metrologists ensures that business in Namibia is conducted in a fair manner. The Directorate ensures that the country’s measurements have traceability to internationally recognised standards to allow the consumer to trust the data provided by the measurements and to have confidence in decisions of both the public and the private sectors when such decisions are based on such data.
